As it is the time of the year of reflection, and of looking forward, i figured it was time to update this blog with an overview of what 2010 has been about for me. I hope some of you find it interesting. haha.
Music
I listen to music every single day. on the bus ride to work, at work, bus ride home, and then again at home, including up and while i go to sleep. I have music for every possible...

6 Months with Miss Silvia
So about 6 months ago, i bought a new espresso machine, in the hopes of being able to make some better coffee at home than simply using a small stovetop espresso pot. I also bought a matching bean grinder too at the same time. And so after using it a few times each week, what have i learnt?
Well. That i have lots to learn still. Making a great shot of espresso, is tricky. And steaming the...

Horrible Drink & Pretty Bad Food
Today i went to a cafe nearby to where i work, and had this for my lunch:
1. Kale, Beet(root), Celery, Apple, and Ginger juice.
This was discusting. It smelt and tasted horrible. I wanted to vomit. But i drank it all down, cause i know it’s got good stuff in it. I’m sure she must have just ran out of Apple and so added more kale, or beets or something. It was gross. The people i...
Death from Taxes
I did my taxes yesterday. Well, at least most of it done. The issues were:
1. Multiple countries
2. Different Tax years (Jan1-Dec31 for US, and Mar31-Apr1 UK)
3. Closing down my business + business revenues and taxes
4. Foreign bank accounts still active (UK)
5. Pension fund (UK)
6. Having incorrect data from previous PAYE employment. :-(
Took 4 hours all in all, and i’m sure...

I went to LA
A friend of mine from Sony Ericsson was in town this weekend, so we decided to jump in his rental and drive down to Los Angeles for the day. I had never been there before so there would be lots of silly touristy things to see. Sadly, he only had a day before he needed to leave, so we really only had about 5 hours in the city.
We left around 4am and took Interstate 5 down to LA. It took about...
Coffee Successes!
Sadly, i’ve been far too busy lately to enjoy brewing a nice cup of coffee at home here. But i managed to give it a shot today and wouldn’t you know it. I ROCKED AT IT! two cappuccino’s that tasted great. milk steamed perfectly. My latte art needs work now. As instead of making a nice leaf, or flower or whatever, it ends up looking like planet mercury. ie, random swirls...
Happy Holidays!
This Christmas holiday break, i’ve had my friend of 16 years visiting me here in San Francisco. We’ve been exploring the city together a lot, finding restaurants, bars, café’s and really trying to find all the cool things that this city has to offer.
I’m also very thankful to all my friends here for coming out and hanging out with us and for giving us great tips of places...

Pulled about 15 Shots of espresso tonight. FAILED the whole lot. Haha. In fact the only tastey thing i got out of the machine tonight was some water for a cup of tea. Haha. TEA FTW.
First Pull
I pulled my first shots on Miss Silvia tonight with my good friends Sean and Kat, and guess what? Yup. It tasted TERRIBLE! Hahahaha.
Though, after reading so many reviews of the machine, i knew and expected it to take me a while to get the hang of. Miss Silvia is very particular about how you treat her. Anyway, tonight we went through a whole bag of beans in search of the correct grind, the...
