Text 24 Jan 1 note I went to LA

A friend of mine from Sony Ericsson was in town this weekend, so we decided to jump in his rental and drive down to Los Angeles for the day.  I had never been there before so there would be lots of silly touristy things to see.  Sadly, he only had a day before he needed to leave, so we really only had about 5 hours in the city.

We left around 4am and took Interstate 5 down to LA.  It took about 4-5 hours to get there.  But even though i was told it’s a pretty boring route to take in terms of scenery, it was decent enough to keep us interested.  We discovered a whole heap of snow along the way which was rather unusual.

When we got to LA, we went up and along Mulholland Drive, which i had on my list of things to do.  And then took some photos of Studio City, including the famous Warner Brothers water tower and such.  Then we drove further around and up to get our obligatory shot of the Hollywood sign.

From there i think we went down onto Sunset strip, or Hollywood Blvd. or something.  We saw the chinese theatre, some stars on the ground, and some strange people.  We drove then to the financial district of the city, and then around to Beverly Hills and Melrose.

There was a shop i wanted to check out there called Johnny Cupcakes. Which is a fun t-shirt shop.  I picked up a couple of shirts, and some other stuff and took some photos of their store.  It’s pretty crazy fun.  We bobed across the road into the Kid Robot store to look at toys for a bit too before heading off.

Went down to Santa Monica and walked along the pier and had lunch, took some photos and stuff.  Then heading out to Malibu and to find the beach used on baywatch, which we thought was one called Zuma beach (might be wrong on this).  It was really nice there anyway so we stayed and saw the sun set, which was pretty awesome.

Long ride back along the coast, and eventually got in around 1am.  Argh.  on the road for 21 hours!   pretty tired, but was a great day.

I took heaps of photos which you can see here:
